helm's alee
The Helmsman announces that the tiller has been moved to the leeward side, the vessel's bow will now cross the wind and move on to the oppasite tack. The sails must be shifted to the other side of the vessel and trimmed for best performance on the new course. Tacking is the result of a desire to reach a destination that is upwind of one's current position. Tacking is life.

I like the way that you're yanking everyone back into line at BC. You and I see the total aspect to this war and others need to se it also.
What's BC?
louise - that's "The Belmont Club" comments section where skip is a voice of realist optimism. I am a huge fan of Wretchard - the moderator of the Belmont Club - and his ability to command great historical analysis; I think skip has this strong analytical intuition as well, though his is tempered by hope. (I hope skip is right); cheers.
The problem of the west is that huge tracts of our fellow citizens do not believe there is a war on. This is testament to vast and luxurious layers of freedom still extant; that is, the dingier the left's denial and faith in cliche (we create terrorists, etc) the more alive is our freedom in the west - freedom to deceive ourselves. John Derbyshire over at National Review has stated that it will take a million dead before the west is cleansed of nihilistic multiculturalism. I do not know why 9/11 was not enough for the dingy left; for me it was such a flat-out demonstration of lethal intent by the mad jihadists - who could ask for anything more? The insane left, I guess.
You're right on the money das. BTW you're no slouch in the comments department either. I enjoy BC so much that it's the first thing on the docket every morning.

I get claustrophobic in the mountains. ;-)
Thanks das. Mike explained that to me elsewhere.

We love to go a wandering along the mountain side.
The bear went over the mountain.
The bear went over the mountain.
The bear went over the mooouuuuntaaain, to see what he could see.
And what do you think he saw.
And what do you think he saw.
The other side of the mountain.
The other side of the mountain.
The other side of the mooouuuuntaaain, and what do you think he did.
He went down the other side of the mountain.
He went down the other side of the mountain.
He went down the other side of the mountain, and what do you think he did......
